Camp Crosskids is seeking an energetic, organized, and compassionate Program Director to lead our growing after-school and summer camp ministry. As Program Director, you will provide vision and leadership for all aspects of Camp Crosskids, working alongside dedicated staff, supportive families, and the U Turn Foundations Inc. Board of Directors to ensure every child has an exceptional experience.

What You'll Do

As Program Director, you will:

  • Lead the day-to-day operation of our after-school and summer camp programs.

  • Create and maintain a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for children and staff.

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and encourage a high-quality team of teachers and counselors.

  • Oversee educational programming that is fun, enriching, and developmentally appropriate.

  • Manage budgets, purchasing, and program resources responsibly.

  • Ensure facilities, equipment, and vehicles are safe, well-maintained, and compliant with all regulations.

  • Build strong relationships with families, community partners, and the Board of Directors.

  • Help grow the program through effective communication, marketing, and community outreach.

Qualifications

Applicants should meet one of the following preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, Special Education, Human Services, or a related field, plus at least one year of experience working with children.

OR

  • Associate's Degree with at least 30 credit hours in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, Special Education, Human Services, or a related field, plus at least four years of experience working with children.

Applicants must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and successfully complete a comprehensive background check.

Schedule

  • School Year (August–May):
    Monday–Friday, approximately 1:30 p.m.–6:00 p.m.

  • Summer Camp (May–August):
    Monday–Friday, approximately 7:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.

This position is scheduled for up to 40 hours per week, with hours increasing during the summer program.

Compensation

  • Salary $42,000/year

  • 40+ hours per week

Position Title Teacher (After-School & Summer Program)

Position Overview

At Camp Crosskids, we believe every child deserves a safe place to learn, grow, explore, and belong. Our teachers are more than childcare providers—they are mentors, encouragers, and role models who help children build confidence, friendships, and a love of learning.

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for school-age children during our after-school and summer camp programs. Teachers plan and lead activities, supervise children, foster positive relationships, and ensure the well-being of every child in their care.

Terms of Employment

  • School Year (August–May): Monday–Friday, approximately 2:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.

  • Summer Camp (May–August): Hours vary between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

  • Part-time and seasonal opportunities available.

Essential Responsibilities

Child Supervision

  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of every child.

  • Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios at all times.

  • Follow all licensing requirements, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.

  • Supervise children during indoor activities, outdoor play, field trips, and snack times.

Program Leadership

  • Plan and lead age-appropriate educational, recreational, and enrichment activities.

  • Encourage creativity, curiosity, teamwork, and problem-solving.

  • Support homework time during the after-school program when appropriate.

  • Adapt activities to meet the needs and abilities of individual children.

Relationship Building

  • Create a welcoming, inclusive environment where every child feels valued.

  • Build positive relationships with children, families, volunteers, and coworkers.

  • Model kindness, respect, patience, and positive behavior.

  • Communicate professionally with parents regarding their child's day.

Classroom Management

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging learning environment.

  • Use positive behavior management techniques.

  • Assist children in developing social and emotional skills through encouragement and guidance.

Teamwork

  • Work collaboratively with fellow teachers and the Program Director.

  • Attend staff meetings and required trainings.

  • Assist with special events, field trips, and summer activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include one or more of the following:

  • Experience working with school-age children in an educational, childcare, camp, or recreation setting.

  • Coursework or a degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, Recreation, or a related field.

  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to lead groups of children in a positive and engaging manner.

  • Must successfully complete a comprehensive background check.
